Old Horse The West Has Really Changed

Time was old horse- when we crossed
the Great Divide, riding east into
prairie land-
a cowhand could ride all day
never seeing house or barbwire fence-
and all the schooling a man could ever use was
plain old common horse sense.

As far as the eye could see the
prairie was a sea of grass-
growing wild and high old horse,
as high as your spotted ass.
But now that time has passed-
posts and wire now string the land-
what grass is left won’t last-
developers soon will cover it over
with shopping centers, parking lots
and fast food stands.

Common sense and you old horse,
are now just not enough-
a lap-top and a Jeep are required
to bring this old cowboy up to snuff.
The west is really changing-
there aint much left to keep-
even tough old Texas Rangers
are using cell phones
and pagers.

You injured yourself old horse, running
the last predator off this range-
how was you to know that wash-out
lay buried just beneath the snow?
They say away with you old horse-
there has to be a change-
you just aint no good anymore-
you’re all crippled up and lame
and your back is saddle sore-
useless old horses got to go-
we need this land for a new condo.

Old horse, after all we’ve been through,
I don’t give a damn what they need-
they’ll never turn you into dog food
or chicken feed.
We still have two acres of prairie down by the crick
that is still wild and thick-
and no-one will ever see your bum knee old horse,
cause the grass
is still lush, and high as your tired old ass

Hope 2

Hope
Hope for a child
Hope that my age
Hope that it isn’t too much
Hope that a letter is sent
Hope that pills don’t mean
Hope that it’s over for me
Hope that a doctor’s eye
Hope can be convinced
Hope by God be blessed
Hope for a child
Hope.

Hope to Hope

Started from nowhere
Nobody knows when
There was chaos
The Oracle has foreseen
Death abound everywhere
The dungeon crossed its bow
Espousing tribulations
But He came
In solemn animosity
For mankind
Trumpeting
Emancipation

Hope Abides

Hope abides; therefore I abide.
Countless frustrations have not cowed me.
I am still alive, vibrant with life.
The black cloud will disappear,
The morning sun will appear once again
In all its supernal glory.

My excuses

I started on my homework
but my pen ran out of ink.
My hamster ate my homework.
My computer’s on the blink.

I accidentally dropped it
in the soup my mom was cooking.
My brother flushed it down the toilet
when I wasn’t looking.

My mother ran my homework
through the washer and the dryer.
An airplane crashed into our house.
My homework caught on fire.

Tornadoes blew my notes away.
Volcanoes struck our town.
My homework was taken
by an evil killer clown.

Some aliens abducted me.
I had a shark attack.
A pirate swiped my homework
and refused to give it back.

It took so long to make these up
I realized, with dread,
it would have just been easier
to do the work instead.

My Mothers’ Fault

There is a boy named Mickey
A boy so lazy and naughty
One day at school he was given a homework
by his teacher Mr. Goodsworth
When Mickey submitted his homework
the next day in the school
he was so boastful
that he did himself the homework.
The teacher checked the homework
Lo, Mr. Goodsworth said it is too bad
all your answers Mickey are wrong and I feel bad
‘ Sir it’s not my fault ‘ Mickey said
‘ It’s my Mothers’ fault ‘ He said
‘ She did my homework sir ‘ He added

HOME IS HOME

Here is home
Home is home
No place like home
Home is where u are welcome

Come home,
Come back home
You yearn for their zone
But it can’t be your home,
Your relics are here,
You are only there
Where you can only desire
But can never acquire.
They quit you when they please
For you are only there on lease.
Come home with your cream,
Come home with your dream,
Come lets build ours
In these fleeting hours.

The Child Without a Home

without a home,
and i felt undeserved..
For i complained
i wasn’t served,
as she slept under the sky dome..

I said i didn’t like my meal,
and threw it on the street..
And she came from the shadows,
thanking God another wound was healed,
and picked it up on her bare feet..

Her scars were open and still fresh,
her blond hair dripping oil..
Her lost eyes and trembling hands,
her drags,one with the soil..

I saw the child without a home,
a family or a toy..
Was this girl born to die alone??
Did she deserve no joy??

Dancing with a torn teddy in her arms,
under the realm of God..
For finding even for a while
a way to forget the mud..

And that moment i shut the door,
and went back to the fire..
But it was not ”me” any more,
i had lost every desire..

And i felt sick for the voice inside,
that yelled she missed a lot,
where would the innocent soul now hide???
Rain was near, but we cared not..

I saw the child without a dream,
and i felt undeserved.

History

I know the history teacher will start
To tell us about the Greco-roman past
Now that I know this subject is vast
It gets more difficult class by class

Some strange members of my family
Took history to take over there destiny
My cousin says history is better than physics
I don’t know what wrong in his mind there is

I want to know who made the subject history
You know even if he isn’t dead I will make him history
I don’t know if he is crazy

Once a chapter has begun it will never end
And will continue till your life’s near end
Once you start studying for the big thing (Exam)
You got to know everything
That’s what makes it even more boring

This subject history
Doesn’t allow my life to be carefree
When I start studying for the big exam
Subject history acts as a dam
For it only keeps my knowledge back

Though my television is lovely and bright
My computer can operate a simulated flight
History takes it all back
During my exam
I think it is better to be a pussycat
Who doesn’t have to study this and that

I think I need a fire department catapult
For history is getting more difficult
I wish I could mug it up soon
For my head is going to explode sooner

I compare my life
With an ass
This subject history
Has made my life a misery

I learned about Bhagat Singh
Who fought for freedom from the British Rule
He is like an inspiration to Bhavjot Singh
To fight against the history cruel

I Am Apart Of History

I am apart of history
History lies deep down inside of me
I am like Martin Luther King
Just like him I’m going to let freedom ring
I am like Mary Bethune
Because like Maya Angelou I walk like I got oil wells pumping in my living room
I am apart of history
History is important to me
I am like Charles DREW
Like him I can be a scientist too
I am like Malcolm X
Come on my sisters and brothers we have to stop that
I am like Chainey, Schwenger and Moore
I will get people to vote I will go to every door
I am apart of history
I accept the rights my ancestors gave to me
I am like Jackie Robinson
Lokking in the sky at my home runs
I am like Harriet Tubman
Taking slaves to their freedom land
I am like Medgar Evers
Like him I too can be clever
I am like Barack Obama
Rising above to greatness despite the drama
I am apart of history
History is deep down inside of me
