Be Happy

Be happy!

You will grow into God’s greatest blessing, His highest pride.

Be happy!

Yesterday’s world wants you to enjoy its surrendering breath. Today’s world wants you to enjoy its surrendered breath. Tomorrow’s world wants you to enjoy its fulfilling breath.

Be happy!

Be happy in the morning with what you have.
Be happy in the evening with what you are.

Be happy!

Do not complain. Who complains? The blind beggar in you. When you complain, you dance in the mire of ignorance. When you do not complain, all conditions of the world are at your feet, and God gives you a new name: aspiration. Aspiration is the supreme wealth in the world of light and delight.

Be happy!

Do you want never to be poor? Then be happy.
Do you want ever to be great? Then be happy.

Be happy!

You will get what you like most.
You will get what you like best.

Be happy!

God sees in you His aspiring creation. His transforming realization, His illumining revelation, and His fulfilling manifestation.

Be happy!

Be happy!

God sees in you another God. God sees you as another God. God sees you and Him as one.

Dear Happiness

Dear Happiness,

You are the hope in the midst of our souls.
You are the faith that comes with high goals.
You are the meaning of ecstatic bliss.
You are the feeling of a loving mother’s kiss.

You are the sensation of everlasting love.
You are an angel sent down from above.
You are the wrapping of a wonderful gift.
When our lives are fading, to you we drift.

When nothing in our lives seems to go right,
You banish the night and replace it with light.
You are a field of roses in the prairies of life.
You are the redeemer when we suffer from strife.

You enter joyfully when displeasures depart.
You are the main element in what we call “heart.”
You are our relaxation; to you we are loyal,
When the rest of the world is swarming with toil.

You are the emotion when we overcome our fear.
You are the reaction when it’s praise that we hear.
You are the savior, when life takes its snipe.
When we are feeling blue, our tears you wipe.

But then again, what follows you is sorrow.
Whenever you leave, grief arrives on the morrow.
What I’ve always wanted to say, I’m saying today.
Even when misery hits, don’t go too far away.

Beauty

I find, in being Black,
a thing of “Beauty”;
like a joy; a strength;
a secret cup of gladness …
a native land in neither time nor place …
a native land in every Black face!

Be loyal to yourselves;
your skin;
your hair;
your lips;
your speech;
your laughing kinds
are Black kingdoms,
vast as any other.

Hair!

Hair……
long sleek silky hair
Floppy dark raven hair
Vibrant hues of auburn hair
Mops of golden baby hair
Softly shaven ‘bald-head’ hair
Tennis ball-like to the touch
All different types of hair
I like so much
What is it with hair?
That makes you double-back
and just stare?
But most of all the one
that steals my attention
is that dark, shaggy, in-the-eyes
type of hair! !
Heaven………
I must be mad
but do you know?
I just love hair! ! !

Seasons: haiku

Spring: Haiku
Life awakening
Flower opens in the sun
A world is reborn

Summer: Haiku
Warm sun on the ground
A flower growing stronger
Life under the sun

Fall: Haiku
Darkening Shadows
Flower quietly goes to sleep
The world is resting

Winter: Haiku
Blankets of cold white
Flower hidden from the cold
Life waiting for spring

Grief

I tell you, hopeless grief is passionless;
That only men incredulous of despair,
Half-taught in anguish, through the midnight air
Beat upward to God’s throne in loud access
Of shrieking and reproach. Full desertness,
In souls as countries, lieth silent-bare
Under the blanching, vertical eye-glare
Of the absolute Heavens. Deep-hearted man, express
Grief for thy Dead in silence like to death–
Most like a monumental statue set
In everlasting watch and moveless woe
Till itself crumble to the dust beneath.
Touch it; the marble eyelids are not wet:
If it could weep, it could arise and go.

Grief

We all grieve differently
Some grieve quietly
Solemn in their grief not wanting
To show their pain
While some are loud
Letting the pain out for all to see and then beginning
The long battle of healing
Some hold their grief in for so long
That eventually it eats at them
Causing them to misdirect it
In different ways unknowingly pointing
The pain of loss toward others not wanting of it or deserving
When instead they should be letting go and moving on

Grief is not a friend
For it makes one angry, sad, exhausted, and confused
Grief is an unwanted guest for it stays for a long, long, time
Seemingly never wanting to leave
Once in a while it will allow some peace but for only a brief time span
It would rather curl it’s black tentacles around and keep you in it’s grip forever

And then one day you realize you are starting to feel a little better
As the seasons change so do we
In time we shall heal
You start to get back into your routine and realize grief is finally
Packing up to end it’s long overstayed visit
For it was a long process this visit from grief
Each day gets a little better
Keep on moving
Stay busy
One day, Grief is finally gone
Until the next time it is required to visit again

Yes to the Earth

So radiant in certain mornings’ light
With its roses and its cypress trees
Is Earth, or with its grain and olives;

So suddenly it is radiant on the soul,
Which stands then alone and forgetful
Though just a moment earlier the soul
Wept bloody tears or dwelt in bitterness;

So radiant in certain mornings’ light
Is Earth, and in its silence so expressive,
This wondrous lump rolling in its skies;
Beautiful, tragic in solitude, yet smiling,

That the soul, unasked, replies
“Yes” replies, “Yes” to the Earth,
To the indifferent Earth, “Yes!”,

Even though next instant skies
Should darken, roses too, and cypresses,
Or the effort of life grow heavier still,
The act of breathing even more heroic,

“Yes” replies the battered soul to Earth,
So radiant in the light of certain mornings
Beautiful above all things, and human hope.

Green

I look at you and you know what I see?

I see green. Green are your eyes, that have look somewhere else,
But I love just the same. Green eyes that deceived me,
Green was the color of betrayal.
Green is the color of the pain in your eyes.
Green is the color of a liar,
Green was the grass in the day that you told me
How much you would love me
Forever and always
Green was the room
Where I found you with her,
Green was the color of pain,
Green was betrayal
Green is a mystery,
Green can be joyful,
Green can be painful,
Green can be pretty,
Green can mean love,
Green can mean hate,
I see green when I see you,
Green is your color,
Green it will be,
Green are your eyes, that have hurt me so deeply but I love just the same.

GREED

Greed is the disastrous animal of man!
which obliges, cripples man to be immoral, selfish and cruel.
Wish, want, will, desires are the elements of greed.
From which man can never be free.
Greed is a vicious circle of life.
Without whose entrance man cannot survive.
Greed rises from the want of money or materialistic pleasures.
To destroy greed we have to limit our desires.
To drive greed from within we must perform
meditation and salvation.
The ultimate end thus leads to happiness
and pure satisfaction.
